A demo account provides a simulated trading environment using virtual funds, allowing you to explore trading platform features without using real capital. A live account is used for trading with real capital. You can manage and switch between both account types directly in the VT Markets Client Portal or VT Markets App.
Key Differences
While demo and live accounts offer a similar trading environment, they are designed for different purposes:
Demo account: Uses virtual funds and allows you to practise trading and explore platform features without committing real capital. You can open unlimited demo accounts, reset your balance at any time, and trade with leverage up to 500:1 without completing identity verification.
Live account: Used for trading with real capital. Accounts are capped at 20 per client, support leverage up to 1000:1 (depending on registered countries), and can open different trading account types such as Cent accounts, Copy Trading, and Swap-Free options.
Important Information
Execution performance and product specifications may vary between demo and live accounts:
Execution & Slippage: Demo accounts operate under ideal market conditions with virtual order execution and no slippage. Live accounts execute directly against live market liquidity, meaning positions may experience slippage, price requotes, or widening spreads during periods of high market volatility.
Performance Guarantee: Results achieved on a demo account are not guaranteed to be identical to those experienced when trading on a live account. Real financial costs—such as spreads, commissions, and overnight fees(swap fees)—directly impact your live account balance and withdrawable profits.
