You can enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account through the VT Markets Client Portal and update your authenticator settings if you switch mobile devices. Activating 2FA protects your funds and personal data by requiring both your password and a unique, time-sensitive code for client portal logins and withdrawal requests.
Why enable 2FA on your account
Two-factor authentication adds an essential security layer to protect your account against unauthorized access.
Benefits of enabling 2FA: Once enabled 2FA, withdrawal requests using a specific method require a 6-digit one-time code generated by your mobile authenticator app.
Enable Login Authentication: Once activated, every login to the Client Portal requires both your primary password and a 6-digit one-time code generated by your mobile authenticator app.
Account safeguarding: This extra verification significantly lowers the risk of unauthorized account access, ensuring your funds and personal information remain secure.
Before you begin: Required authenticator apps
Prepare a supported authenticator application on your smartphone before setting up 2FA.
Supported applications: Download and install either Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Camera access: Ensure your authenticator app has camera permissions enabled on your mobile device to scan the setup QR code.

How to update your authenticator when switching phones
Transfer your authentication credentials smoothly, whether you still hold your old device or need manual removal.
-
If you still have access to your current authenticator device:
Log in to the VT Markets Client Portal.
Go to the Profile tab from the main navigation menu and select Security.
In the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) section, click Modify.
Enter the verification code generated by your current authenticator device.
Scan the newly displayed QR code using the authenticator app on your new mobile phone.
Enter the 6-digit one-time password (OTP) generated on your new device to activate the new authenticator.
-
If you no longer have access to your current authenticator device:
Send an email request from your registered email address to info@vtmarkets.com to request the removal of your existing authenticator.
-
Your email must include the following verification details:
Full legal name and date of birth
Trading account number and your registered email address
A clear selfie holding your official Proof of Identity document next to your face
-

Processing time: Removal requests are typically processed within 1 business day; once removed, you will receive an email confirmation and can set up 2FA again on your new device.
Important withdrawal policy: For your account security, withdrawals are temporarily disabled for 48 hours after your authenticator is modified or removed.
What if your 2FA setup or code fails?
Follow these diagnostic steps if you encounter missing verification emails or rejected authenticator codes.
Email verification code not received: Check your spam or junk mail folders; if not found, return to Profile > Security Management > Security Authenticator App in the Client Portal and click Send Code again to request a fresh email.
"Invalid authenticator code" error message: This error indicates that the code has already expired or that your device clock is out of sync with international standard time. For more details, see "Why Do I See the "Invalid Verification Code" Error When Verifying or Setting Up 2FA?"
Code expiration window: Authenticator codes refresh every 30 seconds; ensure you submit the 6-digit code immediately after it generates, before the timer resets.
