What risk management settings can I configure for my copied trades?
Depending on the available subscription settings, you can configure volume controls and thresholds for copied-trading profits or losses. These settings use different measures, so check what each setting covers before configuring your subscription.
How Are Trades Handled When They Exceed Volume Limits?
The configured correction setting determines how the system handles a copied trade that exceeds the applicable volume limit:
Scale Down: The system may reduce the calculated trade size to the configured Maximum Open Volume.
Skip: The copied trade is not opened.
If available equity cannot support the permitted volume, the trade is skipped. A trade may also fail because of insufficient free margin or other execution conditions.
Which Profit and Loss Thresholds Can I Set?
Depending on the available settings, you can configure up to three thresholds simultaneously:
Setting
What the threshold measures
Total Loss Level
Cumulative realised losses from copied trades since the subscription started.
Total Profit Level
Cumulative realised profits from copied trades since the subscription started.
Floating Loss Level
Current unrealised losses from open copied trades.
Realised profit or loss relates to closed positions. Floating profit or loss relates to positions that remain open.
These settings do not guarantee that losses will be limited to the configured levels. Market conditions such as slippage, price gaps, and reduced liquidity may result in losses exceeding a configured threshold.
What Should I Review When Configuring These Settings?
Before configuring your copy trading settings, review:
Volume limits and correction settings: Check the limits and correction settings that apply to your account.
Thresholds: Confirm whether each threshold measures closed-trade results or open-trade losses.
Account funds: Check your available equity and free margin.
Trade sizing: Review your selected copy mode and the applicable risk ratio, multiplier, or fixed lot size.
Larger copied trades can increase your exposure and margin requirements.
Risk Warning
Copy trading involves trading CFDs, which are complex instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should ensure that you fully understand the risks involved before trading.
