Your trade’s closing price may differ from your Stop Loss (SL) or Take Profit (TP) level during rapid price movements or market gaps. The outcome depends on the order type, applicable execution rules, and available market prices.
How Is My Stop Loss Executed?
A Stop Loss does not guarantee execution at your specified price.
Once triggered, it is submitted for execution at the next available market price.
During rapid price movements or market gaps, that price may differ from your Stop Loss level.
Your loss may therefore exceed the amount anticipated when you set the Stop Loss.
Can My Take Profit Close at a Different Price?
Yes. A Take Profit may be executed at a different price, particularly during market gaps or rapid price movements.
Its execution depends on the applicable order rules and available market prices.
How can I compare my closing price with my Stop Loss or Take Profit level?
Open Account History in MT4 or History in MT5.
Find the closed trade.
Compare its closing price with the Stop Loss or Take Profit level set for that trade.
Check the Journal tab for available order messages and timestamps.
If the prices differ, the difference directly affects your trade’s profit or loss. It is not charged as a separate slippage fee.
Risk Warning
Trading Contracts for Difference ("CFDs") and other leveraged financial derivatives involve a high degree of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Leverage can magnify both gains and losses, and you may lose all of your invested capital. You should ensure that you fully understand the risks involved before trading.
